What you say is important may not show up in your diary!

If I asked you to name your top three priorities in life, you'd probably say some version of family, faith, health, personal growth, or meaningful work.

But if I asked you to “show me your calendar” from last week—would those priorities still be clear?

For most of us, there's a startling gap between what we say matters and how we actually spend our time (and money!)

We say family is our top priority, but our calendars are packed with work meetings and social obligations, while family time happens only in the leftover moments. Mmmmm.

Does your diary reflect your priorities?

Does your diary or calendar reflect your priorities in life?

We say health matters, but we schedule everything else first and exercise only if we have time and energy at the end of the day. Or don’t have regular check-ups eg regular Osteopthic appointments to keep yourself working or at least a 6-monthly ‘MOT” as a body service.

We say we want to grow personally or pursue meaningful projects, but we never seem to find time for the things that would actually move us forward. e.g get a coach to help you step over your personal boundaries

Here's a hard truth I’ve learned:

Your calendar doesn't lie. It shows you what you actually prioritize, not what you wish you prioritized!

The problem isn't that we don't care about these important things. The problem is that we don't intentionally choose how to spend our time on these important things.

Instead, we let our schedules fill themselves with whatever feels urgent, whatever others ask of us, whatever seems like we "should" do.

We respond instead of choosing. We react instead of creating. Does this resonate with you?

But what happens when we flip this? What happens when we start with what matters most and build our schedule around that?

Everything changes!

Suddenly, you're not fighting for scraps of time for the important things. You're not hoping you'll find moments for what you value. You're not constantly feeling guilty about what you're not doing.

Instead, you're living intentionally. Your time reflects your values. Your schedule supports what matters most to you.

This shift from reactive scheduling to intentional time choices transforms
1. What you do i.e. what’s in the diary

2. How you think and feel

3. The results that you get

4. Your ability to say “NO” to the things that are not in alignment with what you want

5. Your experience of life itself!

If you are discovering that what you say and what you DO are not the same thing - maybe some clarity with the help of coaching will help you?

There is no shame in having the use of an impartial listening ear and wise counsel - in fact, it shortcuts the trial and error and gets you the results that you want in the shortest time. That’s smart!

I hope that some of this rings a bell for you and you can recognise some or all of the above for yourself. Realisation is the first step to taking aligned action.
