Discovering the Bones – Yoga workshop
Yoga has many titles before it, which can be confusing. ..We see pictures of elaborate poses and postures which seem to be far beyond our means…however Yoga is for everybody. The word yoga can be translated as ‘union’. However we interpolate this, the body/mind connection or to the universal, we can not escape, we are all joined in the experience of ‘being human’!, living in a vessel through which we experience.
Yoga is a way of exploring this vessel, the body. By listening to the body we can learn from it. Refusing to push the body into extreme postures against its wishes. We can then have an emphasis on exploration and not on achieving, opening the possibility to learn a great deal about ourselves.
“The way to do (Yoga) is for it to be relaxing, without effort, with the wave, with movement, with breathing. You can reach the same things without strain, with an “intelligent heart”.
Vanda Scaravelli. from ‘Awakening the spine’ Harper Colins.
So whether you are new to yoga or have a practice, this workshop will give you the opportunity to explore movement. To awaken the body and mind through learning to listen to our bodies.
Discovering our bones will be the focus of the workshop. Looking at basic anatomy to facilitate movement and stillness.
The workshop will consist of yoga asanas (postures), discussion around the skeleton, breathing and meditation.
Saturday August 14th 10.15 – 12.30pm
Cost £26 to be paid in advance please. Cheques to Simon Barkworth and posted to the clinic. Thank you.
